It is Better To Be Remembered As…

Leaving Your Very Best Legacy Behind

Written by Randi Fine

Excerpted from the Podcast A Fine Time for Healing,

Whatever we achieve in life--the knowledge we acquire, and the challenges we rise above-- gets passed down through the generations that follow after us. Our words and actions become ripples in the sea of time. They will impact the lives of our family, friends, and community, and continue to carry on long after we are gone. The legacy of our lives will impact the lives of those we hold dearest—our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and future generations. Our words and actions of today influence the way we will be remembered tomorrow.

The legacy we leave will be a reflection of the way we live our lives today. This legacy will be largely influenced by the outlooks, attitudes, values, and convictions that we consistently demonstrated to others while we were on this Earth.

How will you be remembered? What stories and memories will you leave behind?

Consider this...

  1. It is better to be remembered as one who was loving than one who was loathing.

  2. It is better to be remembered a one who was courageous than one who was weak.

  3. It is better to be remembered as one who was faithful than one who was faithless.

  4. It is better to be remembered as one who was hospitable than one who was hostile.

  5. It is better to be remembered as one who was selfless than one who was selfish.

  6. It is better to be remembered as one who was accepting than one who was intolerant.

  7. It is better to be remembered as one who was compassionate than one who was heartless.

  8. It is better to be remembered as one who was forgiving than one who was blaming.

  9. It is better to be remembered as one who was encouraging than one who was discouraging.

  10. It is better to be remembered as one who was trustworthy than one who was irresponsible.

  11. It is better to be remembered as one who was loyal than one who was disloyal.

  12. It is better to be remembered as one who was respectful than one who was discourteous.

  13. It is better to be remembered as one who was optimistic than one who was pessimistic.

  14. It is better to be remembered as one who was grateful than one who was unappreciative.

  15. It is better to be remembered as one who was generous than one who was greedy.

  16. It is better to be remembered as one who was gentle than one who was harsh.

  17. We should be remembered for how we lived, not how we died. We should share our blessings with others while our eyes are open. We should leave this world having no regrets and holding no grudges. We should live each day as if it is our last, because it very well could be.
